Pudtol Evacuation Center, officially opened
The newly opened evacuation center is turned over to Local Government Unit of Pudtol on January 7, 2020 at Poblacion, Pudtol, Apayao.
The source of fund for said project is from the Department of Interior and Local Government’ s Assistance to Disadvantaged Municipalities (ADM 2017) with the amount of Php 4, 356,000.00. The projects types funded by ADM program are water system, evacuation, facility, local access road, and small water impounding and sanitation and health facilities. The evacuation size is twelve meter length and twenty-four meter width. It has two rooms, one wide kitchen and two separate comfort rooms for male and female. In case of electric outage due to typhoon or any disaster, a huge generator is prepared to operate for possible evacuees. The generator is 25 kilo-volt amperes (kVA), 1-phase, 60 hertz (Hz) 240 Volt (V) and is a silent type Diesel Generator Set with canopy.
The Municipal Government saw necessity of an evacuation center due to different issues and concerns arising from using schools as temporary Evacuation Center during calamities, as well as safeguarding the comfort and health of evacuees specially the vulnerable sectors, children, women and elderly. Therefore, the government decided to build evacuation center, gymnasiums and covered court for upcoming calamities. In case of calamities, the Municipality of Pudtol is prepared to evacuate affected residents to the new evacuation center.
Hon. Mayor Hector Reuel Pascua headed the inauguration and turn-over along with Hon. Vice Mayor Randy Laoat, Engineer Jonathan Bangquil of Shawin Konstrak Construction and Construction Supply, Municipal Planning Development Coordinator Nelson Manuel, Pudtol Department heads and Municipal Social Workers and Development (MSWD) employees who will be in-charge of the center. To end the ceremony, Mayor Pascua shared a message emphasizing on community resiliency and recovery, followed by DILG Provincial Director Marvin Basquez’s message of encouragement and appreciation towards the LGU. Messages of gratitude were delivered by Vice Mayor Laoat and MSWDO head Mrs. Rosaline Aloy. The ceremony ended with a small thanksgiving lunch with visitors.
